Amateur Radio Crosses Generations

Whether you’re young or old, amateur radio can be a hobby for anyone. There is no age limit for license testing. In fact, the youngest amateur radio operator got her technician license at age 5!

In an effort to promote amateur radio to our local youth, we have partnered with WVWC,4-H and Scouting to provide amateur radio education and training.

Amateur (Ham) Radio Emergency Communications :

Amateur radio is a great way to stay informed during an emergency situation. It can remain active even when internet communications, cellular phones, and even landline phones are down. In fact, there are places where amateur radio may be your only communication with the outside world!

If you are interested in emergency communications check out our local Upshur Counter CERT team. Nationally check out RACES and ARES. Both have presence in West Virginia.
